About Tech Tackles Cancer
Tech Tackles Cancer is an initiative by the global tech community to help cure childhood cancer. Tech Tackles Cancer Boston hosts an annual event to raise money and have people shave their heads to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation and fund pediatric cancer research. This year’s event is coming up on November 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lansdowne Pub.
“This is an opportunity for Boston’s tech community to come together and show our strength in the fight against childhood cancer. Boston has the best tech community in the world and we are excited to put that weight behind exceeding our goal of raising $500,000 in support of such an important cause,” said Ben Hux, vice president at commercial real estate firm Jones Lang Lasalle and chair of Tech Tackles Cancer Boston.
About St. Baldrick’s Foundation
As the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation believes that kids are special and deserve to be treated that way. St. Baldrick’s funds are granted to some of the most brilliant childhood cancer research experts who are working to find cures and better treatments for all childhood cancers. Kids need treatments as unique as they are – and that starts with funding research just for them. Join us at StBaldricks.org to help support the best cancer treatments for kids.
“Only by finding a cure can we prevent kids from having to battle cancer and suffer treatment,” said Chris Lynch, a technology venture capitalist at Boston-based Accomplice and a board member at St. Baldrick’s Foundation. “That’s why I’m committed to driving a $100M fundraising campaign that involves the tech community in this fight. Boston’s tech community became involved five years ago and sets records every year. This year we’ll do the same.” In 2015, Boston’s tech community raised more than $400K, enough to fund two pediatric cancer research grants.
