The Double Fine Humble Bundle: Today’s “Must Buy” Deal!

Hey, it’s my birthday today, so you know what you can do for me? No? Well, get YOURSELF some of the best damn games you’ll ever play and thank me later, that’s what! Yeah, I don’t ask for much, but you can’t go wrong with this latest Humble Indie Bundle because it’s ALL about Double Fine Studios and their great games. Ok, you don’t need to do this TODAY, as this awesome offer expires in 13 days, 21 hours and 25 minutes as I type this out. Anyway, what’s in the digital box you ask? A jump below the jump reveals all…Psychonauts is required Gaming 101 thanks to its blend of tried and true 3D platforming, those bizarre characters and a surprisingly deep story that gets all micro meta and personal about psychology and as I noted earlier, will probably make you fire your therapist because you can work out more during the 12 to 20 or so hours it takes to complete the game. Costume Quest takes on the RPG with a funny Halloween-themed plot, monster battles with candy rewards and an overall charming style. Stacking is a great, innovative puzzle/adventure with a unique Russian stacking doll play mechanic and tons of offbeat humor.

You can pay what you want for those three, but I say bump out of total cheapskate range to around ten bucks or more and ABSOLUTELY pick up Brütal Legend, probably the best video game tribute to classic heavy metal music ever made. It’s a dark, hilarious take on action and real-time strategy that packs in a stellar cast of metal legends and has a visual style that’s absolutely stunning (as in it looks like a bunch of heavy metal LP covers come to life). All that SHOULD keep you busy for a while, but if you’re willing to step it up with the dollars to around $35 or so, you’ll get access to Broken Age (formerly known as the original Kickstarter record buster project Double Fine Adventure), become a “slacker backer” and get access to the game on Steam when it’s all done and ready for prime time.

In addition, there are a bunch of bonuses that come with the other games, so soundtrack and game music fans should be pleased about getting some nice stuff to listen to when they’re not playing what’s here. Anyway, I’ll shut up now, let you get your digital wallets out and get with the program. Enjoy the gift you’re about to give yourself – you do look like you need a break from today, that’s for sure…
