Dark Souls “Prepare To Die Edition” Hits PCs In August: Some Console Owners Prepared To Kill…

While this is fantastic news for those PC gamers out there who either own Dark Souls on the PS3 or Xbox 360 and want to play it again with the new content or those PC gamers who’ve always wanted to experience From Software’s brutally difficult masterpiece, I have plenty of reservations about this. I’d be into playing that new content if it gets made available over PSN or Xbox Live, but I don’t even want to know what sort of security measures are going to be used to stop any sort of cheating in online games, hacked characters and other issues that affect otherwise enjoyable online experiences…

Granted, I just may be all wrong here and *whee!*, we’ll all be so damn surprised that EVERYONE is playing nicely together and everything is hunky-dory. Then again, given that there’s ALREADY a petition going to make sure the game isn’t using Games For Windows Live at all for the online mode and people are going on and on about DRM in a game that actually needs some sort of secure way to keep the jerks from screwing it up from day one, Namco Bandai and From have their work cut out for them in dealing with those folks.

Me, I just want a retail Game of The Year Edition disc with all that extra content, or at least some assurance that us lowly console users who also supported From Software buy buying Demon’s Souls will not be left out in the cold. Oh yeah, the Demon’s Souls servers are being shut down for good soon, in case you didn’t hear (or haven’t moved on to Dark Souls yet)…

  1. I was late discovering Dark Souls but thank goodness I did. What a great game. This PC edition sounds interesting. New content and maybe better graphics (or higher res)? I’ll check it out for sure.
