BUY IT! Funko Gets New & Nostalgic With Even More TV & Movie Favorites

funko logoI’ve always liked Funko’s cute collectible figures, but my over-dedication to the games library here means I’ve no room to stock those cool-looking figures (boo!). Still, that won’t stop me from letting you know what’s new and upcoming from the company…

May brings in The Rocketeer, the late Dave Stevens’ great comic character that also ended up in a decent and fun to watch film directed by Joe Johnston and produced by Disney back in 1991. Arriving as part of Funko’s ReAction lineup, The Rocketeer comes equipped with a removable helmet and jetpack, which doesn’t actually work by the way (so you won’t have Nazi spies trying to break into your place and steal it)…

Speaking of Disney (and May), Maleficent is the company’s big live-action take on Sleeping Beauty opening pretty much everywhere in North America on May 30 and drawing all sorts of attention for its darker take on the Disney-fied classic, what looks like some great casting and its amazing CG visual effects:

Funko is cooking up two figures (so far) in its hugely successful Pop! line: Maleficent and Aurora, seen here in their cute big-headed glory will be magically appearing at retail and online outlets next month.

June brings Hanna Barbera to the Funko lineup with these four Pop! figures: Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble from The Flintstones, Frankenstein Jr. from Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles and Hong Kong Phooey from (wait for it…) Hong Kong Phooey. I got a laugh when I saw this figure because when I think of HKP, I think of the late, great Scatm,an Crothers who voiced the character and he wasn’t as cute as that Pop! figure, that’s for sure!
