I’m ancient enough to remember seeing Tom Baker as Doctor Who on PBS here and wondering what the hell was up with that scarf and crazy behavior. Of course, next week I was back for more and so forth and so on. I still think he’s the best of the Doctors (and Sarah Jane Smith was the best sidekick in my opinion), but of course, everyone has a favorite depending on when they stepped into the series. Hell, I’m old enough to remember those movies from the 60’s, but they didn’t leave much of an impression until I decided to sit down with them again about a year or so ago. Anyway, happy 50th, Doc!

I admit, I had a soft spot for Tom Baker as Dr Who. He had class and that scarf was something else.

Ah, that scarf… I knew it was long as hell, but it wasn’t until I got to try on a 9-foot replica that I realized it was INSANELY long and probably made for some filming challenges (which is why it kept changing in size during is run)…

I never knew it was that long. All I know is I wanted one, pretty badly. I am a big fan of Dr Who, and in fact, I made a character for a role play that I am doing, with a female Captain, who is a time lord. ❤

Oh, there were a few lengths made, as I found out a little while back:

And even better, there are people who sell replicas! I keep thinking about getting one (or learning to knit and go broke buying all those colors of yarn – eek), but I also keep thinking I like in New York and getting that darn thing caught in subway or elevator doors or some lion in a zoo making a well-timed lunge (ouch!)…
