Some Stupid Things About Rumors And Speculation (Which Is Why I Don’t Cover Them)…

Blah, blah, blah… With all this info leaking elsewhere around the Internet about everything from the Wii U release date to the next Xbox and PS3 consoles blocking used software and requiring an always online connection even for single player games, I figure I may as well let you guys and gals know… I really don’t care and won’t until I actually have a controller in my hand and can get some actual answers about a few things from folks who can spill it without spin. For me, there are too many other important things to cover like actual games and cool stuff that doesn’t involve getting into arguments with random strangers about some dopey rumor mill nonsense that makes less sense the more you look at it.

Anyway, so what if the Wii U is shipping in November? We all knew Nintendo was planning a “Holiday 2012” release for the thing sometime last year, so that news really isn’t “news” (or breaking for that matter). As to the PSWhatever and NeX(t)box? Well, if Microsoft and Sony want to shoot themselves in the face by basically cutting about 20% – 30% of their new console sales because a lot of folks STILL don’t have anything but terrible broadband (or no means to get reliable service where they live), then let them find out the hard way that enforced evolution on such a large scale isn’t going to work, no matter how far over Apple’s fence they look for a business model. Take away games from the “little” people who can’t afford the box you’re putting out with all its special features a lot of these folks WON’T be using and you’re pretty much losing a nice chunk of money to someone else that gives them what they want for a hell of a lot less.
