The Textorcist: Somewhat Devilish Bullet Hell Coming in 2019

“Forget about the check – we’ll get hell to pay!” seems like a fitting caption for this image…

File this under “Now I think I’ve seen everything, I gotta play this one!”  division. Headup Games and developer Morbidware are currently hard at work on a crazy indie called The Textorcist: The Story of Ray Bibbia and yep, it’s looking like a hell of a game experience (pun absolutely intended). Check out the rather astoundingly cool trailer below:

(Thanks, Headup Games!)

I’ll admit to laughing so hard with the concept and execution above that it took me a few minutes to realize I’m going to be VERY bad at this game. Thank goodness for that casual mode noted at the end because it’ll at least let me see more of this one than if I tried to play it normally. Oh, I’ll post the hilarious press release below the jump so you can see what you’re in for when you pick this up nest year.

“I can guarantee at least Purgatory, let’s do the.., Sign of the Cross!”

Ever thought being an exorcist is easy? Think again!

Test your multi-tasking skills with Textorcist on PC

How many things are you able to do at once? In The Textorcist you only have to do two things: type and dodge. Sounds easy enough in theory but proves much harder in practice. This game will put you to the limits of your cognitive and body coordination capacities.

You’re Ray Bibbia, certified exorcist and badass. Your mission is to rid the world of every evil spirit and send them back to hell. In order to banish them you have to type out exorcisms from your holy bible, down to the last letter.

Any spelling mistake you make will throw you back but to make things really interesting you also have to dodge your enemies’ relentless bullet barrage at the same time. But obviously this is still not enough of a challenge for you which is why later on in the game the texts will be in Latin, as is proper for such a holy man of the church as Ray Bibbia. Piece of cake, isn’t it?

I’d gather this will be console-bound at some point, but we shall see how that goes. I know that both Windows and the Xbox One family of consoles now support keyboards and mice and Sony allows for both to be used in some PS4 applications. I don’t think Nintendo’s Switch has the option, but I guess we’ll need to look into that down the road. A request will go out for a Steam demo code, so we’ll see if my slow typing style can keep up with the demons trying to swallow my soul. It’s a good thing I;m not at all superstitious in real life, or else I’d be even more daunted than I am now thinking about how tough this hellish nut will be to crack.

Back in a bit.
